Visual Art is Disposable (2001)

The original call out from 147

147 invites you to submit work for a temporary exhibition called Visual Art is Disposable.

Visual Art is Disposable is a one-night art and social event at the SIPTU social hall, Liberty Hall, Dublin, from 6-9:45pm. 147 invites you to respond to the title of the exhibition event. Ideally we would like you to consider making disposable art. However, we are open to other types of work.

Installation of the work can take place during Thursday March 29. Or alternatively work can be posted to 147, PO box 8235, Dublin 1 or e-mailed to initiative147@hotmail.com.

Visual Art is Disposable is the first of a series of exhibitions/events by 147 which aims to build national and international networks outside the gallery system.

What are we?

147 is a nomadic contemporary art space which will generate critically relevant exhibtions and events. 147 has no fixed location. It will act as an alternative to existing structures.

147 will present new work beyond the gallery by Irish and international artists on an episodic basis. For its first project, 147 is organising an exhibition of disposable artworks to occupy a city-centre venue.

147‘s committee is: Orla Ryan, Maeve Connolly, Brian Hand, Margaret Corcoran and Peter FitzGerald.
